Expectant mothers, mothers, children -- even grandmothers and aunties -- are all welcome. Meet and mingle with other breastfeeding families. In additional to the valuable mother-to-mother support, an accredited LLL Leader will be on hand for questions or one-on-one time at the cafe, and ready to share warm and respectful information about breastfeeding.
Inclement
Weather Policy:
If the roads are too bad for school buses, and therefore Howard County schools are closed, we'll cancel the morning meeting or Mommy & Me Cafe. If schools are delayed in their opening, we'll still have the morning meeting or Mommy & Me Cafe, but it may start somewhat later than usual (since the Leaders have to get there, too, and set up) -- please do come at 10 a.m. anyway. For an evening meeting, if the roads have been cleared and the meeting place is open, we'll still have the meeting. If bad weather develops during the day, especially if for instance the schools or the federal government close early, then we'll cancel the evening meeting.
How
to Help our Group
We're always on the lookout for volunteers, and we're experienced in making Group jobs mother-sized. Volunteers gain through the satisfaction of helping others, learning new skills and developing those they already have, teaching others new skills, affirming their values, and our child-friendly atmosphere. Some of our standard Group jobs are greeter, librarian, publicity coordinator, refreshments coordinator, hostess, and fundraising coordinator. Of course, certain jobs are already filled, and we often could use help with one-time tasks that aren't on this list. You can donate to the Group if you wish, not only money but also books for our lending library (ask us what we need), stamps and other office supplies, your home for additional meetings, etc. Please ask!
